[Fr. alquifoux (arquifoux), ad. Sp. alquifol, ad. Cat. alcofol alcohol (f repr. guttural ḥ, cf. alforge and Eng. draft, draught). In this form the word has more closely retained the original sense.]
A lead ore, containing sulphide of lead, which when broken looks like antimony; it is found in Cornwall, and is used by potters to give a green glaze to coarse earthenware.
